Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit to Vernon County Criminal History, including reading its content or submitting a search. Use of the website signals agreement. Anyone who does not accept the conditions should stop using it.

NO FCRA USE. Vernon County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a local, Missouri, or federal government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its purpose is to identify public criminal-record resources in Vernon County, Missouri. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of every government office. It does not store official criminal records, perform an official check, retrieve a file, or submit a court document for a visitor.

The content identifies record holders such as the Vernon County Sheriff, Circuit Court, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS Central Repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also contain search tools operated by outside providers.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is permitted only when it is lawful and does not interfere with other visitors. A user must not:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked service must not be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Missouri specifically warns that registry data cannot be used to facilitate a crime. The Missouri Sex Offender Registry supports lawful public-safety awareness, never vigilantism or retaliation against a listed person.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Vernon County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It creates no consumer report, credit report, or official background check. Information from this website or a linked tool cannot be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A regulated check must be obtained from a lawfully authorized, FCRA-compliant source. The public search widget is not that source.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations about Vernon County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed Missouri attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to a particular set of facts.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied “as is.” No warranty promises that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dispositions, custody, sealing, and expungement can change a record. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. Only the originating Missouri office can issue an official or certified statement.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to the sheriff, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations control their content, privacy practices, fees, and availability. Their terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Vernon County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or adapted without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for damage arising from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to defend and hold the operator harmless from claims caused by that user’s conduct or breach of these terms, including reasonable related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Missouri law governs these terms. Any dispute connected with use of the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Missouri. Public-record access remains subject to the Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo, and repository dissemination is governed by section 43.527 RSMo.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms become effective when posted here. Continued use after posting indicates acceptance.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. The affected text will be narrowed only as required to make it enforceable.
